What is Outbound and How is it Done?

What is outbound

.

Outbound marketing is one of the traditional marketing methods and generally aims to deliver a direct message to the consumer. These messages can be delivered through means such as email, phone, or mail. Outbound marketing aims to actively reach out to customers and is often used by companies to promote their products or services, make sales, or strengthen customer relationships.

How is Outbound Done?

Outbound marketing strategies, since they aim to reach customers directly, require careful planning. In doing so, you should pay attention to the following:

Target Audience Selection: The first step is to define your target audience. Determine which customer segment you want to reach.

Channel Selection: Choose the channels you will use for outbound marketing. Select the most suitable one among phone, email, printed materials. Even as technology advances, sometimes applying the oldest methods can be effective. For example, once we made cookies ourselves and shared a note saying, "Cookies are on us, coffee is on you. We look forward to visiting you soon" with 4 big clients we couldn't reach before. All four responded positively to our message and invited us.

Message Creation: Prepare the message you will deliver to customers. Your message should be clear, attractive, and offer value to the customer.

Communication Frequency: Determine how often you will reach out to customers. Too frequent communication can disturb customers.

Follow-up and Analysis: Track the impact of your outbound campaigns and analyze the results. Observe which channels are more effective and adjust your strategy accordingly.

What is the difference between outbound and inbound?

After answering what outbound is, let's look at what inbound is. Inbound marketing aims for customers to find and be interested in the brand. It is carried out through methods such as content marketing, blog posts, social media content, and email newsletters.

While outbound's goal is more sales-oriented, inbound's goal is to arouse interest, increase brand awareness, and indirectly reach customers to generate leads.

Outbound KPIs:

Conversion Rate: The advertisement's ability to direct the customer to make a purchase.

Reach: The number of people the advertisement reaches.

Cost: The cost of the advertising campaign.

Inbound KPIs:

Organic Traffic: The number of visitors coming to your website naturally.

Conversion Rate: The customer's discovery of the brand through content and participation in the purchasing process.

Blog Engagement: The number of reads and comments on blog posts.

Points to Consider

Outbound marketing is an effective way to reach customers by establishing direct communication. When setting up your sales strategy, it must be considered and planned carefully. However, it should be planned carefully and implemented according to the needs of your target audience. Sending bulk emails, mass SMS messages, or mass WhatsApp messages can cause your target audience to block you.

Take care to go to customers with more personalized messages and value propositions suitable for their situations.
